Crafty Hen Parties
Looking to add a creative twist to your hen (or stag or sten!) party plans? Then look no further. A Hoop & Fred workshop is the ideal craft to bring a group together to create something beautiful!
Why embroidery?
Planning the perfect hen do is no easy task! Often there are lots of people coming together who don't all know eachother, are different generations and have different relationships to the bride! Getting creative together can be the perfect gentle ice breaker to make sure everyone feels involved. As you get lost in the task of making something conversation will start to flow, and we can tailor the sessions to be inclusive of everyone.

What would we make?
The workshop can be perfectly tailored for your bride-to-be! Perhaps you all want to learn to embroider onto a tote bag (something you can all use to store your dancing flip flops), or perhaps you want to create pieces that could be used as decorations on the big day. We can create the perfect workshop plan inspired by the wedding's colour scheme, venue or flowers. Here are just a few ideas for you:
-
Love is in the air
Everybody stitches up their own 4-inch love heart hoop. We can add florals or work with a bespoke colour scheme. The finished hearts could be used as wedding decor on the day and then returned to the people who stitched them as a beautiful reminder of the wedding and your friendship with the bride.
-
Tote or Make Up Bags
Learn how to customise tote bags, and other clothing items, with a beginner embroidery workshop. Everyone makes their own personal item, which they get to keep and take away with them.
-
Decor for the big day
Table numbers, bunting, welcome signs, or thank you gifts! We can create beautiful hand stitched or fabric printed items, perfectly inspired by your plans for the big day!
Plan the perfect party for the bride to be...
How long would the workshop be?
Ideally you'd need to allow for an hour and a half for any Hoop & Fred workshop, but the timing depends on what we are creating in the session and whether you want to ensure everybody finishes their piece in the class, or you're happy for people to learn everything in the workshop, but finish in their own time.
What's included in the workshop?
As with any Hoop & Fred workshop, all the materials you need will be included in the class, and everything you make is yours to keep. Everyone will take home their own mini embroidery kit and access to online instructions - so if you want to make more embroidered decor at home you can do
How many people can you accommodate?
To get the most out of a workshop, and to ensure everyone gets enough guidance and has the chance to complete (or make a really good start on what they are making) we recommend no more than 15 guests, however if there are more of you than that we can work together to create a class that will work for your group.
Do you provide the venue?
Unfortunately, we don't have our own studio yet, but we have several venues in Manchester we already work with, or we can help you liaise with a venue to find a suitable space. Because all our workshops are incredibly portable, and generally very easy to clean up, they can take place in most spaces.
How much would the workshop be?
The total cost of the workshop will depend on how many of you there are, the final workshop session plan, and whether or not there is travel involved. All the classes can be broken down simply into a price per head, and the more of you there are the cheaper the class will be per person. For example, a simple embroidery-based workshop for 10 people at a Manchester-based venue would cost £35 each (£350 in total).
